METAXIS is a genre-fluid sonic work composed by Matthias Schubert for the immersive dance performance of the same name, premiered at Kampnagel Hamburg.
Merging organic recordings and tactile sound design with digital manipulation, the album navigates themes of transformation, identity, and perception in a digitized world.

Field recordings, glitch textures, breath, movement, and microscopic detail form a richly layered soundscape that oscillates between ritualistic calm
and fragmented disorientation. Originally designed for the stage, METAXIS now lives on as an immersive listening experience — intimate, physical, and sonically fluid.

The release is accompanied by visuals from artist and creative technologist Bariş Pekçağliyan, whose mesmerizing, psychedelic worlds were shaped through
diverse AI techniques and real-time visual manipulation. These environments form the basis of the teaser videos and the video for the title track “Metaxis”
that precede the album’s release.
